Throughout this exciting two-year digital Photography course you will learn how to use a DSLR camera and develop digital editing skills using media software such as Adobe Photoshop. On the course you will have an opportunity to work in a number of different photographic genres, including portraiture, landscape, urban, still-life, fashion and beauty, abstract and advertising. You will develop research and analytical skills, and in response to a number of different briefs you will create imaginative and innovative outcomes. You will produce a digital portfolio of your work using Tumblr.

Course Information

The Photography course will enable you to develop the creative skills and confidence to work within the creative arts. During the first year of the course you will complete a course induction and work both independently and in groups on a number of different projects. In the second year you will complete an independent coursework project and take part in a practical 15 hour exam. You will also produce a Personal Study which takes the form of an extended essay.

You can expect to:

Research and analyse the work of contemporary photographers
Work individually and in groups
Create an individualised digital portfolio of work
Organise photo-shoots in your independent time
Visit galleries and exhibitions

The course is studied with two or three other A Levels. It may be studied alongside any of our creative courses, including Fine Art, Graphics, Architecture or any of the Creative Media options. Analytical courses such as Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Religious Studies and Government and Politics are also complementary.
