This course has been developed to provide an arts-based progression route to Honours level for those who have completed a Foundation degree (or equivalent). BA (Hons) Arts Practice was developed in response to demand for an arts alternative to the very successful BA (Hons) Professional Studies. It seeks to engender a creative mix of artists and art forms and encourages cross-fertilisation of ideas and projects.
This one year full-time course provides the opportunity for further exploration of an art form which would have been previously studied at Foundation degree level. Whether this is media-based, music, graphics, fashion, photography, fine art or other form, the structure of this programme blends practical, exhibition/project work with the in-depth study of contextual issues associated with Honours level work.

Course modules
This is a one-year course in which students study three modules. The first semester consists of a Dissertation (an extended investigation which will usually be associated with the Major Project) and Professional Futures, Ethics and Sustainability. This module encourages research and analysis into contemporary issues either affecting, or affected by, the art form. The second semester consists of the Major Project, a negotiated work which may be solo or involve a number of arts/artists.
