Beauty Therapy Level 3 Extended Diploma

This Level 3 Extended Diploma in Beauty Therapy provides progression from Level 2 Beauty Therapy. This engaging and practical vocational course will extend your skills as a Beauty Therapist by introducing you to a larger range of specialist beauty face and body treatments including body massage, electrical face and body treatments, spray tanning, gel polish, individual eyelashes, retailing and promotional activity, health and safety, client care and communication, and by giving you the opportunity to develop skills in the running of a beauty business. This increased depth of knowledge will prepare you for work in salons, hotels, health and fitness spas, airlines, cruise liners and department stores in the UK or overseas. A work placement is an essential feature of the course. It will give you a valuable insight into the commercial world of beauty therapy as well as looking great on your CV – thanks to strong links with local employers we can help set up this placement for you. What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Successful completion of level 2 Beauty Therapy course.,You must achieve at least five GCSEs grade A*/9 – C/4 in four different subjects, including English Language and/or maths, or an equivalent Level 2 vocational qualification.

How will I be assessed?

Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected in a portfolio of evidence. Guidance for this will come from your assessor. Your assessor may also ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Your assessor will also observe your practical performance in one assessment. Your grade will be determined by achievement of assessment criteria and achievement of additional performance standards.

What qualification will I achieve?

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Beauty Therapy This level of qualification allows you to perform a wider variety of professional treatments and enhances your employment and career prospects. Progress to the Diploma in Complementary Therapies is available and for those who seek employment in the theatre or television the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Beauty Make-up would provide a suitable route.

What can I do after completing this course?

This course will give you an introduction to working in a commercial beauty salon. In order to carry out a wider range of treatments and increase your employment prospects you may wish to progress to the Complementary Therapy or Make-Up Artistry.

Are there any extra costs?

There is a requirement to purchase Level 3 salon wear. Attendance is compulsory on some trips and visits, £25. Details of these will be given separately in advance.
