Working in partnership with the performing arts department of The Pad, this course explores the world of musical theatre and performing arts through dance, acting, music, stagecraft & costume design.

Course Description

The course includes: an introduction to Performing Arts; acting, dance & music skills; preparing and presenting performance and performing to an audience; exploring set, costume and prop design; and all elements of musical theatre.

All workshops include a master class with professional performers.

Entry requirements

If you are still at school you need to be aged between 14-16 years.

If you have left school, you must be aged between 16-18 to start study programme. There are bi formal entry requirements but you will be given a formal interview.

This programme is highly supportive of those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping to develop personal and social skills alongside performance skills for ages 16-24.

Course start dates are flexible.

Qualification

Entry Level 3 Award through to Level 1 Diploma in Performing Arts

Qualifications are assessed using a combination of (a) the evidence of work/achievements included in your portfolio and (b) practical assessments, which will include the opportunity to perform to an audience in both formal and informal surroundings.

Course length

Depending on Award, Certificate or Diploma – 1 Academic year maximum.
