General Construction Level 2

Our apprenticeships are aimed at young people who want to start a career in construction. The minimum timeframe to successfully complete an apprenticeship is one year and one week, Some of the course is classroom based but the majority is carried out in your place of work. We provide classroom sessions on employment rights and responsibilities, personal learning and thinking skills and functional skills (literacy and numeracy). Full funding is available for 16-19 year olds; anyone who is above this age bracket may require additional employer contribution.

Site Carpentry
Painting and Decorating
General Construction
Building Maintenance and multi-trade repair

INFORMATION FOR APPRENTICES

As an apprentice, you are entitled to holiday pay. Your employer is responsible for providing your PPE (personal protective equipment; eg hardhat, harness etc) free of charge (please refer to the Health and Safety act 1974).

INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS

There are plenty of benefits to taking on an apprentice or placing a current employee on an apprenticeship. Employing apprentices is a simple and cost effective recruitment process and once the apprentice has started employers find that productivity increases along with employee retension. With corporate and social responsibility and even localism being evermore important, engaging apprentices adds value to your business by clearly demonstrating not only your commitment in growing your company but by providing employment opportunities for local people.

Numerous grants are available to help an employer support an apprentice while working. The current national minimum wage for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. There are also large grants available from Kent County Council, Shepway District Council, the government and other sources. We can explain and guide you in obtaining the maximum funds available.
