Do you love the idea of working outside? With this course you will be able to learn about – and experience – the practical, creative and job-specific skills needed for a career in Horticulture.

You’ll find out about working with and caring for plants and the soil, maintaining turf as a grounds-keeper, designing gardens/parks and many other skills needed to work in the Horticulture industry.

Course Description
This course covers the practical skills of: landscaping, and construction, laying paving slabs, handling tools & machinery, the preparation of soil, planting & caring for plants and what is needed to design gardens and parks. You will also learn about personal and on-site Health & Safety requirements.

Entry requirements
If you are still at school you need to be aged between 14-16 years.

If you have left school, you must be aged between 16-18 to enter a Study Programme. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you will be given an informal interview.

Course start dates are flexible.

Qualification
Level 1 Horticulture Certificate
Level 2 Horticulture Certificate

Your achievements will be assessed during a work placement or in a simulated workplace and you will also have gathered evidence of the work you have done for your Portfolio.
