Channel your passion into a rewarding year of personal and creative development.

This course is ideal for students who want to further their experience of art, design and media, and develop their ability and confidence. The majority of students use this course as a stepping stone to aLevel 3 Diploma in Art and Design, though others may choose alternative further study pathways or full-time employment.

You will make work of your own, and explore a range of new processes, such as working with surface pattern, wood, ceramics, metals, print, photography and digital media. There will be opportunities to throw yourself into drawing, mark making and finding ways to record, understand and communicate the world around you.

A central element of the course is problem solving by working through fun tasks, taking risks and developing new ideas. Stimulating and demanding projects will challenge you to think about how and why you make art work.

Studio and library discussions with your tutors and peers will give you a chance to look at the work of other artists and designers – which in turn will give you the confidence to talk about your own work.

You will get plenty of support in finding new ways to research and investigate and all your experiences on the course will help you discover your creative strengths and what you can bring to the world as an artist, designer or maker.
