This qualification introduces course delegates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment.
It will enable employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks in the workplace.
Aims
To provide course delegates with the knowledge and understanding required for manual handling in a safe manner.

At the end of the course you will be able to:
Identify the hazards of manual handling
Identify the risks involved and controls available
Identify what to expect from a manual handling assessment

Definition of manual handling
Manual handling hazards
Relevant legislation and guidance including the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work
Regulations 1999
Risk assessment
Controls and reducing the risk of harm
Manual handling techniques
Assessment Method
Classroom based delivery with a multi-choice examination at the end of the session. Practical manual handling exercises will take place to put into practice methods learnt.
