Level 3 Travel and Tourism

This programme is for you if you’re interested in combining academic studies with practical work and would like a career in the exciting travel and tourism industry. It’s the ideal choice to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills to gain employment or if you are considering going on to university. Students who complete this programme develop a wide range of skills in both Travel and Tourism. There are many career options for people with commitment and enthusias such as with airlines, overseas resorts, hotels, tourist information centres, tour operators and travel agencies

This course was written in conjunction with leading travel companies and provides the basic training for all jobs in the industry.

You will study all aspects of the travel industry including holiday sales and services, travel companies, world and UK destinations, as well as general skills including customer service and presentation skills.

Units can include:

Work Experience in Travel and Tourism
Promotions and Sales in Travel
Planning and Delivering a Guided Tour
Package Holidays
World and UK Destinations
Specialist units may include Tour Operations, Tour Guiding, Holiday Representative, Event Operations and Cruising.

You will also have the opportunity to study and achieve an additional qualification alongside the diploma to give your CV an added boost – Gateshead College Certificate in Airline Cabin Crew or L1/2 Certificate in Aviation Operations.

Depending on previous achievement, you may be required to study maths and / or English.

The course will also include some trips to bring the travel industry to life.
