Role Profile
An Operations/ Departmental Manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, to achieve operational goals, as part of the delivery of the organisation’s strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same.

Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring.

Roles may include: Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and Specialist Managers.

Qualifications
Alongside the Level 5 Apprenticeship you have the option to complete the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management, which will be fully accredited.
Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Progression
On completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, and those with 3 years’ of management experience can apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI

End-point assessment – What is this?
End-point assessment is a new way of assuring quality in the apprenticeship system. It replaces the existing model of continuous assessment resulting in qualifications.
Once an apprentice has completed their apprenticeship, they will be ‘signed off’ by their employer/ provider as ready for end-point assessment of their knowledge and practical capabilities. In most cases, the assessment will be graded and must show the apprentice is fully competent and productive in the occupation.

Operational Department Manager End Point Assessment consists of:
Knowledge test
Competency based interview
Assessment of portfolio of evidence
Presentation on work based project with Question and Answer session
Continuing Professional Development Log review and professional discussion
