The Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship Framework is for
learners who either work in, or wish to develop a career in the motor industry in roles such
as, but not limited to, Competent Light Vehicle Technician.
QUALIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES
As a Light Vehicle Technician, Apprentices will be given confidence to service and repair all
light vehicles such as vans and cars. They will be trained in all aspects of vehicle mechanics
and electronics including security features, engine and exhaust systems. Duties of a Light
Vehicle Technician include: servicing vehicles, carrying out checks and maintaining vehicles
per the manufacturer’s guidelines, repairing and replacing faulty parts and components
and advising customers.
Unit Lists:
There are two qualifications to achieve in this Apprenticeship, 4270 is competence
based to show what an Apprentice can do within their workplace as skills and abilities
and 4290 is knowledge based and covers the principles of Light Vehicle Maintenance
and Repair
QUALIFICATION DELIVERY
The completion of this qualification requires monthly visits from a qualified IPS Trainer to
develop the Apprentice’s portfolio and progress the Apprentice to prepare for
assessment of knowledge. These assessments are achieved through online based
multi-choice assessments that may require the Apprentice to attend our Rochester or
Dover centres, but will be planned in advance to give sufficient notice.
