This course is designed to develop work ready skills for you to start your career in the Hair industry.
To achieve NVQ Level 2 you will attend the academy for approximately 15hours per week, with work experience, from September to July. Your training will consist of practical, theory, portfolio building, evidence collection and personal tutorial sessions; these form the basis of your individual earning plan.
Your practical training will take place in the commercial training salon. This is open to the public allowing you excellent opportunities to gain lots of salon experience and access to assessments.
This is a Job ready qualification, meaning you will be employable at the end of your training.
Course Content
Level 2 (NVQ) Diploma in Hairdressing
In your training you will study the following units;
Health & Safety
Give customers a positive impression
Advise and consult with clients
Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
Change Hair colour
Cut Hair using basic techniques
Style and finish Hair
Retail and treatment sales
Set and dress Hair
Reception duties
Assessment
This qualification is to be achieved through continual assessment of your practical work and your theory understanding using tests and oral questioning, evidence of competence will be collected in a portfolio of evidence.
Additional Training
All NVQ Level 2 students are offered the opportunity of participating in additional job ready training activities where available
Entry Requirements
Formal qualifications are not required to study Diploma in Hairdressing NVQ) Level 2, however, it is desirable to have achieved four/five GCSE’s at grade C or above.
It is essential that all candidates have an enquiring mind, enthusiasm, motivation, a desire to work with people and immaculate personal presentation.
Your acceptance on the course will be dependant on a successful interview and suitable references.
