OCR Level 3 Management
Management NVQ (NQF)s are aimed at people in management roles across all occupations and sectors of employment. The Management level 3 qualification is broadly aimed at those who are responsible for the control of activities and work output of a team who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable management and leadership skills, for example, providing leadership, planning and implementing change, managing a budget, managing a project.

To achieve the full award, candidates must complete seven units, including four mandatory units and three optional units. Candidates choose the optional units which best suit their work situation and job role.

Candidates must achieve a total of 13 credits made up as follows:

10 credits from Group A (mandatory) all of which are at Level 3
3 credits from Group B (optional)

Unit 31 Gaining results from your team (Credit value 3)

Unit 32 Improving your own management and leadership performance (2)

Unit 33 Key principles of management and leadership (5)

And the following optional units:

Unit 21 Developing working relationships with team members (3)

Unit 34 Principles of working with and supervising others in a business environment (3)

Phase 1: Induction & Principles of Management

Unit 33

Functions of management; leadership skills; allocation & delegation of work; exploration of motivational leadership; setting targets & objectives; handling conflict

Phase 2: Getting results from your team & developing productive working relationships

Unit 21 & 31

Monitoring performance; setting team objectives; managing team and individual performance; communication skills; productive working relationships; engaging the team

Phase 3: Developing yourself and your team

Units 32 & 34

Exploring management & leadership skills; exploring management theory; setting personal work objectives; improving management & leadership performance & gathering feedback; personal development planning

Like all NVQ (NQF)s this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.
