Students will complete the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (1xA level) in year one and progress on to the BTEC Extended Diploma in year two (3xA levels). This is an advanced level course equivalent to 3 A-Levels and potentially 420 UCAS points. The subjects studied are designed to underpin the entry requirements of a number of Public Uniformed Services. You will study 15-18 units over the year incorporating both practical and theoretical elements including:

• Government • Team leadership • Citizenship • Team development • Discipline • Outdoor Adventurous Activities • Expedition Skills • Fitness Testing & Training • Diversity • Police powers and the Legal system • Command and Control • International perspectives

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?
You must achieve at least five GCSEs grade A*/9 – C/4 in four different subjects, including English Language, or an equivalent Level 2 vocational qualification.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed on a continuous assessment basis with assignments at specific times throughout the year. Assessment methods include essay writing, presentations and practical activities. There will also be compulsory assessments within the outdoor adventurous activity programme

What qualification will I achieve?

Students will achieve a BTEC 90 credit Diploma (1xA level) in year one

What can I do after completing this course?

This course can lead to university, the police, the Armed Forces (including direct officer entry), emergency and rescue services, the Merchant Navy, offender management services and private and public security organisation.

Are there any extra costs?

Cost of the course will be approximately £325 in year one which covers: educational visits, induction activities, uniform (outdoor kit), trips, outdoor adventurous activities including sailing and canoeing qualifications and travel costs
