This course is designed for learners aged 19+ wishing to extend their occupational competence as professionals within the health and social care and children and young people’s sectors.
It is aimed at learners who are working as Care Managers or Advanced Practitioners within these sectors.
Skills for Care and Development recommend that this qualification is also the current, relevant qualification to be taken by individuals working as Care Managers within the adult social care sector.
This course allows the learner to take a reflective and proactive view to their work place and how to influence and implement positive changes. As a result of the course, your overall awareness of current legislation and wider issues that affect the Health & Social Care sector generally increases.
This qualification contains six pathways. Learners must select one of these pathways dependent on their role and the type of care provision they work in:
Adults’ Residential Management.
Adults’ Management.
Adults’ Advanced Practice.

Understanding professional supervision practice.
Understand the process and experience of dementia.
Understand physical disability.
Facilitate change in health and social care or children and young people’s settings.
Manage an inter-professional team in a health and social care or children and young people’s setting.
Manage finance within own area of responsibility.
Manage quality in health and social care or children and young people’s setting.
Develop and evaluate operational plans for own area of responsibility
Manage physical resources.
