Mechanical Technicians carry out installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of mechanical equipment.

This role is vital to the safe and effective installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems used in engineering, manufacturing and process industries. Ensuring that mechanical systems are installed and maintained in a safe condition, to meet safety and technical standards.

Typical Tasks
Carries out installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repair activities
Fault-finding and repair of systems and equipment
Modifies, repairs or replaces plant, systems and equipment
Participates in Risk Assessments as part of Safe System of Work
Interprets technical drawings
Prepares reports on work done

Entry criteria
4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) including English and Math’s for a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
