We will teach you about the skills of counseling. This course will be delivered online using Zoom. The email address you give at enrolment will be shared with the course tutor, so that your tutor can send you an email invitation before each Zoom meeting.

Please note that the College is unable to provide technical support for students.

The course which is accredited to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) consists of 2 Mandatory Units – Using Counselling Skills (K/502/6966) and Introduction to Counselling Skills Theories (K/502/6630). It is relevant to those wanting to use counselling skills in their work role and is of particular use to those working or volunteering in a people orientated industry. This is a very practical course giving an opportunity to acquire and practise a range of counselling skills and explore their use within an ethical framework.

It also provides the foundation stage of a professional counselling training programme with each course level providing an opportunity to achieve an award. You are strongly advised to retain this course information as evidence towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

It is also suitable for students wanting to gain interpersonal skills for everyday life. It provides an opportunity to reflect upon the personal meaning of the course content and experience in relation to helping and communicating with others.

Students must be aged 18 or over. This course is offered in September (3 terms) and January (2 terms). No previous training or experience is required; however, the non-assessed in-house Introduction to Counselling Skills course is also available if students are unsure.
