SETA Training for Industry

SETA stands for Southampton Engineering Training Association Ltd.

SETA was established in 1969 as a Company Limited by Guarantee (not for profit with no issued shares) and is a registered charity (Charity Commission No 307299). We are governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of non-executive Directors representing local companies and executive Directors from SETA.

The training centre in Millbrook, Southampton was opened by Earl Mountbatten of Burma and has continuously managed apprenticeship programmes and delivered upskilling and engineering training to both apprentices and adults.

We provide accredited, industry-recognised training to an advanced level, delivered by highly experienced staff with vast industry knowledge, and have been playing a key role in developing and transforming workforces for some 50 years.

We offer a range of commercial courses for the engineering sector alongside the apprenticeship programmes we deliver, including City & Guilds electrical courses, CCNSG courses, CompEx courses, Welding, Machining, Safe Use of Equipment and Forklift training to name a few. We are a recognised AM2 assessment centre and an EAL approved centre for assessing adult NVQs in the workplace.

We remain committed to quality engineering training for young people and have built links with local schools to try and encourage them into the industry. We hold two open evenings each year providing the opportunity to come in and look around our workshops, meet the staff and some of our employers.
